Wednesday 24th September

Well, we had a bit of excitement today and things are becoming a bit clearer with this walk thing.

It would appear that I’m something of a celebrity. I can live with that, I suppose. A big bunch of people turned out this morning to have their picture taken holding me. I was totally confused.com, especially when some big guy wrote his name on me (what a cheek!).

But her
e’s the scoop, as a Canadian wellie friend of mine used to say.

I’m heading to a place called Edinburgh. The name rings bells. In fact, I think I was there before I was here, if you follow me. It’s quite a long way away but hey, I’m a wellie. I’m rugged. Intrepid. I can do it.

So these folk this morning, what I might modestly call my fans, were from Northlink Ferries. They have the big ship that I’m going on and of course wanted a bit of my stardust to rub off on them. That’s fine. Happy to oblige, guys, and thanks for the trip – make it smooth!

This other dude, the one that wrote on me, was a coxswain. I have no idea what a coxswain is, mes amis, but it sounds cool, doesn’t it? One good thing about this coxswain – he has yellow wellies. So I like this guy, despite his liberties with the old biro. Something else about my coxswain friend (his name’s Bruce, by the way) – apparently my trip to Edinburgh is going to help him and his mates. Now, I can’t quite figure this one out but not to worry. If his mates all have yellow wellies (and I’m led to believe they do), then here is one happy camper.

After all this limelight and people touching me, I need a rest. I’ll get back to you soon.
